Watts is considered by many to be the Father of English Hymn Writing.
At a time when hymns in English were few and far between, he published his first hymnal (comprising 222 hymns) in 1707, and more followed.
Many of his hymns are still sung today, and this CD features 15 of his most-loved, beautifully sung by The Coventry Singers, with organ accompaniment.
They include -
When I Survey
Joy to the World
Jesus shall reign where’er the sun, and
Come we that love the Lord.
Includes a small booklet of biographical material and the words of the selected hymns.
