This is one of two exciting stories about Sam - a 10-year-old orphan boy living in Victorian London - through which the reader is introduced to compassionate people and actual societies that were formed out of Christian love and concern for those in need. Sam's parents have died and he has to fend for himself. He desperately wants and needs an education, and new parents to look after him. Life is transformed when he comes into contact with Lord Shaftesbury and the Ragged School Union. However, life is still full of danger - how will he cope, and who will help him?
