The Christmas holidays are a very welcome break from the busyness of the year. Bright lights and a general feeling of jollity help us fight off the gloom of those short, dark days at the end of December. We look forward to good TV, family get-togethers, and the joy of the children as they open their much anticipated presents.
As good as these things are, is there a more important aspect to Christmas that is sometimes overlooked?
Christmas is chiefly the time of year when we remember and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. The name Jesus means “Saviour”, and it refers to His chief purpose in coming into the world. We have all done wrong things, and that separates us from God, but by His sacrificial death for us, He paid the penalty for our sins, and opened the way for us to be forgiven and to come into a right relationship with God, our loving heavenly Father.
This Christmas let’s consider Him who is,
“the Christ, the Saviour of the world.”
John 4:42
Wishing you a truly Happy Christmas!
